DESCRIPTION
Lover Boy #MASA4731 came to MAS on April 27 after being reported as camping out in a citizen's yard near I-69 & Chelsea. There was a pen in the backyard that he could get out of if he chose, but maybe he thought it was a safe, comfy place to take up residence!
Now Lover Boy is safe and comfy at MAS but he sure would like a home of his own. He spent some time with our photo volunteers last weekend and here's what they said about him: "Lover Boy is a 4 year old, 60 lb. male that was so well-behaved. He walked great on the leash and was very calm and sweet in the photo room. He very quietly laid down on the rug, ready to give us some cute pics...no treats needed, but don't worry--he got plenty for behaving so well! He enjoyed getting some attention but never demanded it. Lover Boy took treats very gently. He is an awesome dog. This precious pup is just so sweet and calm. He deserves to have a comfy couch, lots of love, and to be part of a family."
Appointments are recommended but not required for adoptions. If you'd like to make an appointment to meet him, email mas@memphistn.gov or call 901-636-1416.
Lover Boy was part of a playgroup altercation on 5/6/21. Another male dog sized him up and Lover Boy started an altercation. The other dog grabbed Lover Boy by his face and neither dog would let go of the other. Multiple tools were used to break up the altercation. Once they were broken up and before they could be safely removed from the yard, within seconds they went back at each other again, both making contact with each other a second time. Multiple team members came in to assist. Multiple tools and people had to be used to break the dogs apart.
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
