See that sweet face in the photo? When you take Kathy home you'll be seeing that gazing back at you lovingly on a daily basis! Kathy loves to hang out with people and look up at them happily like she's just glad to be here!
Kathy has become a favorite of our director here at MAS, as well as all the staff. You can tell she's had a rough life, she has an old, healed embedded collar wound that is still growing hair back as was picked up by one of our officers as a stray. Despite that she's sweet as can be and loves people. She has a healing hot spot but now that she's clean, dry, and not living on the streets it's clearing up well. She's spent some time in our admin offices and she's completely potty trained and calm - the perfect addition to any family! While we haven't seen her with children yet, we think she'd do great, as she's not overly pushy and loves everyone she meets. She hasn't had a chance to get out for a playgroup yet, but she greets other dogs happily and calmly on leash and behind a barrier so I don't think she'll have any problems there. Overall, Kathy is one of those pups that makes you say: "How are you still here?!"
3/20/26: I took Kathy out today for photos with a visiting photographer. She is such a lovely girl! She is affectionate and walks well on a leash. She basically climbed in the photographer's lap and really enjoyed getting pets. She wasn't very high energy at all and I think she would do great in a family environment.
3/22/26: I took Kathy outside to the play yard today. I took her out previously and she seemed excited to go outside. She wagged her tail and rushed outside, where she immediately went to the bathroom. I think she may be housetrained.
Outside, she enjoyed running around and then coming to me for a quick cuddle break. She does have some hot spots/sore areas on her neck and back, and at one point I accidentally pet one of the spots and she gave a little cry and startled away. I apologized and crouched down and she came to me shyly. I think she'll feel a lot better once she's clean and healed up.
Kathy attended a small playgroup on 4/5/26. She was friendly and social with gentle/dainty playstyle. She gave good corrections when she became too overwhelmed, and preferred to keep to herself.
