Cynthia ACCT-A-253182 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Cynthia must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER, or ADOPTER by Tuesday, July 14th, 2026 at 10AM. Should Cynthia's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Meet Cynthia, a 7-year-old sweetheart with the heart and energy of a dog half her age! Don't let her age fool you-this goofy girl is full of life and always ready for her next adventure. Whether she's chasing a tennis ball, zooming around the yard, or soaking up affection from her favorite people, Cynthia approaches life with joy and enthusiasm.

Cynthia is a happy, social dog who loves spending time with people. She greets her friends with a wiggly body and her adorable little nub tail going a mile a minute. She enjoys pets, hugs, and leaning in for affection, and she's always happy to check back in with her person after exploring. Volunteers consistently describe her as one of the sweetest dogs they've met, noting how easy she is to handle and how her silly personality keeps everyone smiling.

Playtime is one of Cynthia's favorite things! She absolutely loves playing fetch, especially with stuffed toys, and will happily bring them back to keep the game going. She's an active girl who enjoys getting outside to stretch her legs, sniff all the exciting smells, and burn off some energy. Cynthia can be strong on leash, especially at the start of a walk when she's excited to explore, but with regular exercise, consistency, and a little training, she has all the potential to become a wonderful walking companion.

Cynthia has also shown positive social skills with other dogs and has enjoyed playgroup, where she has displayed loose, playful body language and invited other dogs to play with adorable play bows. Like many dogs, she appreciates respectful introductions and may prefer canine friends who understand her enthusiastic play style.

Per staff 7/7/26 (Regarding meet with Zoey): Mid to high tail wags, ears to the side, came on strong, went on hind legs with an air snap, ears forward. Meet was ended there.

Per volunteer 6/29 : Cynthia is the biggest goofball with the happiest little nub wag you've ever seen!

This silly girl had me smiling from the moment we stepped outside. Cynthia is full of life and has so much love (and energy!) to give. She absolutely loves to run, play, and chase after a tennis ball. If you're looking for a fetch partner, she's your girl!

Cynthia does pull a bit on the leash right now, but honestly, it's easy to understand why. After spending so much time in a kennel, she just can't wait to stretch her legs and explore the world. With regular exercise, consistency, and a little patience, I have no doubt she'll become an amazing walking companion.

One of my favorite moments was watching her meet another dog through the fence. She had a loose, wiggly body, her adorable little nub was going a mile a minute, and she offered the sweetest play bows, clearly hoping to make a new friend.

Cynthia has so much potential and such a joyful spirit. She just needs someone willing to give her the outlet she deserves and a chance to show what an incredible companion she can be. I have a feeling this goofy girl is going to make one lucky family laugh every single day.

Per staff 6/27/26: Loose and wiggly in playgroup yesterday, friendly, great addition to the yard

Per volunteer 6/21/2026: Such a sweet girl! I couldn't believe she was marked as 7 years old, she has a ton of silly young energy and loves to play. She's goofy in the yard, tripping over herself to get to a toy and bring it back to me. When you pet her, her little nub goes crazy! She was such a joy to spend time with and so easy to handle.

Per staff 6/21/26: Kennel Presentation: Met me at the front of her crate with a loose body, ears forward, soft eyes, and a soft open mouth.

Leash Skills: Stood still and allowed me to secure her easily. Once leashed, she turned around and jumped up a few times, then continued walking on her own, pulling hard. She turned around to look at me every few seconds, then continued on her own. She's strong on leash and able to be redirected (while still pulling). Also pulled strongly on the way back inside.

Sociability: Very excited once we got outside. Pulling erratically in different directions to sniff around. In the play yard, she was extremely wiggly and playful. Got zoomies around the yard and returned for pets. She solicited attention with a loose body and allowed handling all over. No interest in treats.

Play: Loved playing fetch with a stuffy. She brought the toy back to me and dropped it on her own after a few seconds to throw again. No signs of resource guarding when I approached her or reached toward her/the toy.

Dog Interaction: No reaction to a quick fence sniff with Starling, who gave one muzzle punch and vocalized/bared teeth. We later did a fence meet with the dog in the welcome center kennel and Cynthia was very loose with medium to high fast tail wags and appropriate sniffs through the fence, then moved away easily with slight leash pressure.

Return to Kennel: Easy to return to crate

Recommendations and considerations: Exp gold due to strength on leash - behavior could be gold.

Playgroup 6/19/26: Steerable with spray bottle (4/5) barely with shake can (1/5). Gate greetings: high nub wags, pacing, ears to the side, generally loose and relaxed. Easy entry into yard, independently sniffed, paid no attention to greetings from Nova. Later, pitter-patters and shuffles and push/pull play with Nova. Later still, gave a lip raise and subtle air snap toward Dottie when the latter approached her face-on for greetings.

Per staff 6/17/26: Very wiggly with a loose low tail wag upon arrival to shelter. Easily leashed. Hesitant to come up front stairs and refused treats but allowed me to carry her in. Solicits attention and will lean in for pets. Required minimal restraint (just a muzzle and a loose hold) for vaccines and microchip and easily returned to kennel.

Per staff 6/17/26: Caller put both dogs into the truck, I assisted with lifting them. Both wiggly with soft eyes and loose body language. No issues lifting.

6/17/26: An Animal Protection Officer picked up Cynthia and Linda from a caller after they reported that when they bought their home, both dogs were in the yard.
