DESCRIPTION

Meet Dusty! This one-and-a-half-year-old boy is looking for a patient, understanding home where he can build confidence at his own pace. Dusty is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines.

The shelter can be a scary place for Dusty, and he's still figuring out how to feel comfortable in new surroundings. He enjoys being near people and will seek out pets for comfort, but he can also feel overwhelmed and unsure. Dusty knows "sit" and may know "down," even when he's too nervous to accept treats or play with toys. He'll need a family willing to give him time, space, and plenty of positive encouragement as he settles in. Letting Dusty approach you on his own terms and avoiding overwhelming situations will help him learn that the world isn't such a scary place. We recommend a home with older children, and any younger children must meet him before adoption.

Dusty has also met other dogs here at the shelter. He showed interest in sniffing and exploring alongside another dog but wasn't quite ready to join in on playtime. With slow introductions and a plan to separate the dogs when needed, he may be able to share his home with another canine companion.

Dusty is a sensitive boy who needs someone willing to let him blossom at his own pace. With patience, kindness, and a little time to build trust, he may just become a wonderful companion! Come meet Dusty here at the shelter or reach out for more information!

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
