**Meet Kit Kat (ACCT-A-246364)**
Hi there! My name is Kit Kat, and I am looking for a patient and understanding human to call my own. I came into the shelter when I got out of my owner's house and they said they don't want to reclaim me :(
Coming into the shelter has been a big, overwhelming change for me, and I'll be the first to admit that I'm a bit of a shy wallflower. When things get loud or busy, I can feel a little nervous, and I sometimes need some extra time to warm up to new friends. I am definitely a "gentle soul" who prefers a quiet environment where I can take things at my own pace.
While I might be a little hesitant when you first meet me, I have a very sweet side that comes out once I feel safe. I've been working on my confidence, and I've discovered that I really enjoy spending time outside exploring. Once I realize you're a friend, I'm happy to say hello and give you a little sniff! I'm still learning the ropes, but I've been a very good girl during our walks and I'm always happy to head back to a cozy, quiet spot to relax.

Behavioral Notes:
Walksheet notes summary as of 4/15/26: Kit Kat is a sweet, gentle girl who enjoys exploring and sniffing on her walks. She can be a little nervous at first but warms up quickly and becomes affectionate, happily accepting pets. With a calm, easygoing personality and moderate energy, she's a loving companion who will thrive in a home that gives her a little time to settle in.
Volunteer 4/14/26: Kit Kat was very happy to get out of her kennel. Paws up on the glass door, wagging tail and very relaxed . Went to bathroom as soon as we got outside and her kennel was super clean, indicating she is house trained. Took treats nicely. Not interested in toys. Sat for treats and took them gently! Walked great on leash. Loved pets and was affectionate. Had a nice fence meet with butterball.
4/4 Playgroup Notes: Not steerable with water (0/5) and very steerable with shake can (4/5). Entered the play yard with confidence. Handler oriented. Gave appropriate greetings to other dogs. Overall Gentle & Dainty playstyle. Warmed up even more the longer she was in the play yard.
04/02/2026:
Kennel Presentation: When I approached her kennel, she was laying on her bed and her whole body was shaking. I tossed her a few treats, and she seemed to be nervous by that and continued to shake. She didn't seem to be aggressive at all, so I stepped a foot into the kennel and leashed her while laying down and she quickly got up and walked out of her kennel.
Leash Skills: On leash she does pull quite a bit so recommend a harness.
Sociability: She shows no interest in treats. Outside in the play yard she was pacing and doing some exit searching. I would call her over with a treat and she didn't seem interested in eating it. She did not solicit any pets out from me either, but when she was next to me I gave her a few pets and body language remained neutral. I sat on the ground for a while and let her sniff around and then she came over and sniffed me with a relaxed body. Warmed up to me towards the end of our outing. Definitely nervous but behavior wise was pretty easy.
Play: No interest in toys today, she was pretty nervous
Dog Interaction: Nothing today
Return to Kennel: No issues returning to her kennel.
Color Level: Giving blue for color due to shyness and fear
03/31/2026:
I was asked to help move Kit kat from the crate to a double kennel. She was at the front of the crate when I first approached and then retreated to the back and laid down. Tense body, wide eyes and ears to the side. I tossed a few meatballs in and she sniffed them but did not eat them. I was able to leash and she remained laying down I tried to do a treat lure to come out of the crate however she did not eat the treats. I tried slight leash pressure but she pulled back. I removed the leash and went to grab some different treats (cheese), I tossed some in and she did eat it. I again was able to put the leash on, but she remained laying down. She was avoidant of eye contact with wide/whale eyes, panting and trembling off and on. I used leash pressure to fully come out of the crate. Walking through the kennels her eyes were darting, ears to the side and ears down. Immediately went to the bathroom as we got outside. Did a shake off after a minute outside, nose to the ground the whole time. Need some light leash pressure to go back into new double kennel.
03/31/2026:
Playgroup 3/31: No steer test preformed due to fearfulness. Trembling when the handler was attempting to put clip leash on. In the yard she was avoidant of the other dogs. She stayed a long the fence line, exit searching. When dogs were near her she would sniff int their direction.
