Domino - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Fort Worth, Texas

DOMINO

Mixed Breed
🇺🇸
Fort Worth, Texas
August 27th
male, large, adult

DESCRIPTION

Domino is a handsome, friendly boy with a playful spirit and a heart full of love. He enjoys being around people and is always ready to be part of the action—whether that means going for a walk, playing in the yard, or simply hanging out by your side.

He has a great mix of energy and affection, making him just as happy to join in on adventures as he is to relax and soak up attention. Domino is eager to connect and thrives when he’s included as part of the family.

With his sweet nature and joyful personality, Domino is sure to bring companionship, fun, and loyalty to his forever home.

Volunteer Perspective:
Domino is one of those dogs who doesn’t attract a lot of attention. He’s not huge, he’s not tiny, his coloring is not unusual, he’s not super active in his kennel. But if you are lucky enough (like I am) to walk beside him, scratch his ears, and give him treats, you’ll quickly learn that this friendly, gentle boy is a dog worth knowing. Come meet our hidden gem and be prepared to fall in love!

Doggy Day Out Adventures
Domino is tired of being overlooked so he sported a bright red bandana for his first ever Doggy Day Out! I thought he looked especially handsome, but I might be biased because this sweet boy is one of my favorites.

The car ride was a totally new experience and I think Domino will become a fan once he realizes all the fun places cars can take him. We headed to the duck pond by Keller’s Town Center where Domino could enjoy his favorite activity- flopping onto the grass. He luxuriated in the cool St. Augustine, stretching out his long legs, rolling around, and offering his belly for scratches. We lounged for about 15 minutes and Domino completely relaxed, perhaps for the first time in months. He was interested in his surroundings, but was not interested in giving up our prime pond-side real estate. Until the ducks waddled past. We went for a slow stroll, keeping a respectful distance from our fine feathered friends. Domino watched them, but never pulled. He was very interested in the water, but I wasn’t up for a swim and he didn’t argue. We walked a short time then he found another nice parcel of land and flopped down again. Between the shade and the breeze coming off the water, we were very comfortable and Domino probably would have been happy to stay until the sun set, instead of just an hour. Next time, I will bring a long book to read!

We finished with a stop at 151 Coffee’s drive through for a pup cup and, as expected, Big D feasted with lovely manners. And, as expected, I loved watching him enjoy a little treat.

Even though he's about two years old, Domino is still a little timid. For dogs like him, outings are more about building confidence than working off energy. Domino’s family will have the joy of introducing him to new experiences and wonder how they ever managed without him!

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
