How special is Duchess? When I started picking up extra volunteer dog walk shifts at the shelter - just because I missed her - I realized that I needed to foster this good girl! ... And she’s truly been a dream.
Dutchess is patient, loving, and has impeccable manners. She is wonderfully tolerant and easygoing around both people and other dogs. She currently lives with a resident senior dog (who is a bit reactive and very set in his ways). Dutchess has been respectful of him and his boundaries. Dutchess is potty-trained and is excellent at communicating when she needs to go out. On walks, she passes people, dogs, and squirrels with little care. She typically walks with a loose leash next to me and stops for only the most important sniffs. She prefers quieter residential streets and is still getting comfortable with city noises but is continuing to decompress.
Dutchess loves ALL the toy - squishy, squeaky, bouncy, you name it! When it’s playtime, she transforms into a joyful cross between a leapfrog and a roly poly. She hops and bounces around her play area with the cutest bursts of energy chasing her toys. Later, she lays on her back chewing on her toys, and has been known to roll herself off the bed or couch due to her enthusiasm. Her playful spirit has me constantly cracking up.
Dutchess loves her people and has been my little shadow around the house. While I’m away at work, she sits comfortably with my husband, curled up under his desk keeping his toes warm. She seems to do a good job entertaining herself with her toys and her nap times.
Dutchess would thrive in a home that appreciates both her gentle, affectionate nature and her silly, playful side. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s just as happy going for a walk or playing fetch as she is snuggling on the couch, Dutchess may be your lady in waiting.
