My name is Melissa Tower, and I am a professional dog trainer with over 15 years of experience in behavior management and modification. I am reaching out to request assistance with placing a dog currently in my care, CJ, a Staffordshire/Red Nose Pit Bull mix, who is in need of an appropriate long-term home.

CJ initially came to me for a board and train program but was unable to return to his original home due to significant littermate syndrome and complex multi-dog household dynamics. The home includes both parent dogs, a service dog, and two of CJ’s littermates, which created an unstable and ultimately unsafe environment for him and the other dogs. Given these circumstances, returning him was not a responsible option and his owners surrendered him to me.

CJ is approximately 20 months old and is neutered. Since completing his training, he has remained in my care. While I am committed to his well-being and have done everything possible to set him up for success, I am unfortunately not in a position to keep him long-term. I have a toddler at home as well as my own dogs, and it would not be fair or sustainable for any of the animals or my family to continue this arrangement indefinitely.

In terms of temperament, CJ is a highly intelligent and capable dog who thrives with clear structure and consistent leadership. He is loyal, focused, and forms strong bonds with his person. However, due to his history and behavioral tendencies, he would do best as the only pet in the home. He is not suitable for placement with other dogs and would also be best in a home without young children, where his environment can remain calm, predictable, and low-stress.

CJ has made meaningful progress through training and responds well to guidance, but he will require a knowledgeable handler or adopter who understands structure, boundaries, and continued reinforcement. With the right placement, I am confident he can succeed and become a deeply devoted companion.

I am willing to continue fostering CJ until an appropriate and qualified home is found, and I am fully committed to supporting that transition. I am also happy to provide detailed behavioral notes, training history, and ongoing guidance to ensure CJ is set up for long-term success.
