Sweets is a dog who is being treated for atopic dermatitis and flea allergy dermatitis, resulting in chronic skin irritation and discomfort. In addition, Sweets is experiencing lameness of the right rear leg, which may be related to a soft tissue injury, an abrasion on the plantar aspect of the right rear paw near the third digit, or a possible cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injury.
These conditions require continued veterinary evaluation, pain management, treatment of the underlying skin disease, and ongoing monitoring to determine the cause of the lameness and ensure appropriate care. This level of medical management exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment.
Despite these challenges, Sweets remains gentle and is doing their best while receiving supportive care.
Sweets needs a safe, compassionate placement where they can receive continued veterinary care, diagnostics, and treatment to improve comfort and mobility.
This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to the level of medical care required, which exceeds what we can provide in the shelter. If you are interested in helping, please email dasadopt@dallas.gov with your contact information so we can call you back
