DESCRIPTION
Bennie is a 2-year-old sweetheart with bright, expressive eyes that show just how smart he is. It’s easy to see he is a very special dog with endless potential. He’s affectionate but also has an independent side, he settles quickly in his kennel and does not have seperation anxiety. Bennie spent over 80 days at the shelter before being fostered for approximately 2 months. He presents as very high-energy at the shelter, but that behavior does not reflect who he is outside of it. Any time he is able to leave the shelter—whether on day trips or while in foster care—he settled quickly and showed a completely different side of himself. In a home setting, he is calm, sweet, and eager to connect. He enjoys playing with toys, he is funny, and has a playful side to him. And of course, he loves pets and baby talk. He also enjoys being brushed and does well taking a bath outside. Bennie is an intelligent dog who is just beginning to learn what it means to be someone’s pet. While in foster care, he was potty trained and kennel trained. He learned the commands sit and leave it. He also completed heartworm treatment while in foster care. He requires an experienced dog owner that will provide structured and consistent training to ensure that he continues growing into a well mannered boy. He enjoys going on walks and is still working on leash manners. Bennie has a strong prey drive and should not be adopted to a home with cats or small animals. He requires a home with a yard that is fully secured with tall fences. With time, patience, and consistency, Bennie is going to grow into a truly wonderful companion.
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
