DESCRIPTION

Gertie is a 2.5-year-old bully mix weighing around 35 pounds, and she’s looking for a home that understands loyalty, routine, and a dog that bonds deeply once she trusts you.

This girl showed up as a stray months ago and never once had anyone come looking for her. What we discovered instead was a young dog with a sweet personality, a love for adventure, and just a little gray on her muzzle that makes her look wiser than she is.

Gertie is:
• Fully vaccinated
• Spayed
• Microchipped
• Heartworm treated and cleared to go
• Current on flea/tick prevention
• Protected with a 1-year heartworm prevention injection

Her heartworm test was caught extremely early with a very low positive result, and our vet feels confident her treatment handled it appropriately. If she were to ever test positive again in the future, we will absolutely stand behind her care with our vet clinic.

Now let’s talk about who Gertie really is.

She does phenomenal with other dogs and has integrated beautifully into a multi-dog environment. She enjoys walks, hiking, lounging on the couch during rainy days, and being close to her people. She travels great in the car, does well in or out of a crate, and has been working hard on crate training, not because she needs it, but we do work with all our dogs on that.

She’s loyal without being clingy. No separation anxiety. No constant chaos. Just a solid dog that likes being part of your life.

She walks well on leash, collar, or harness and would thrive in a home with a fenced yard while she settles in. Once bonded, she stays close and enjoys being with her people.

We do need to be transparent about one important thing:
Gertie cannot safely free-feed or share food space around cats. She has shown food resource guarding tendencies and did kill an outdoor cat that approached her food. Outside of food situations, she has been around cats without actively chasing or showing aggression, but because of what happened, we will only consider cat homes that are experienced, structured, and committed to strict management and separation during feeding times.

She also does best with scheduled feeding instead of leaving food out all day.

Gertie is not a “go-go-go” dog 24/7. She’s the kind of dog that enjoys a weekend hike, a walk around the neighborhood, then curling up next to you to binge-watch TV afterward.

She’s not looking to compete in dog sports.
She’s looking to belong somewhere.

If you’re interested in Gertie, send us a message and we’ll get you an adoption application 🖤

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
