Buttercupz - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Chicago, Illinois

Meet Buttercupz! Buttercupz came into our care with her two sisters after their owner sadly lost their home. Buttercupz may be a bit shy at first, but with a bit of patience and a lot of love, she's sure to come out of her shell in no time. She enjoys the company of dogs, but would probably do best in a cat-free home. Buttercupz knows her basic commands, sit, stay, and come.

"Buttercupz is the kind of dog that makes you wonder how she ended up in a shelter in the first place. During her foster stay, she proved herself to be an incredibly gentle, affectionate, and adaptable companion who settled into apartment living with ease.

She has all the charm and playfulness people love about younger dogs without the stress of constant training. Buttercupz is potty trained, crate trained, knows "sit" and "stay," and quickly picked up on household routines. She sleeps comfortably in her crate at night, settles well during the workday, and has shown very minimal destructive behavior when left alone.

One of Buttercupz's best qualities is her temperament. She is affectionate and happiest simply being near her person. She loves curling up on the couch after a long walk, quietly following you from room to room, or accepting attention from anyone willing to admire her scruffy face and signature silver mohawk.

She walks beautifully on leash and absolutely loves exploring the city. She enjoys meeting other dogs and did especially well with smaller dogs during her foster stay. While she can initially be a bit timid around larger dogs, she gains confidence quickly with reassurance and positive experiences.

Buttercupz has also shown promising behavior around cats with slow, structured introductions. She may do best with a confident, dog-savvy cat and an adopter willing to continue a patient transition process. She has additionally met children briefly and remained calm and gentle throughout those interactions.

Above all else, Buttercupz is simply an easy dog to love. She has a calm presence in the home, a sweet and loyal personality, and the kind of expressive face that turns heads everywhere she goes. Whoever adopts her will be gaining a truly special companion."
