Every person who meets Hei Hei goes through the same three stages.

First, they notice her eyes.

Then they notice her tiny little head.

Then they notice her long, skinny legs.

And then, before they know it, they're completely in love.

Hei Hei is one of those dogs that makes you smile before you've even said hello. Named after the famously confused chicken from Moana, she arrived at ACSKC as a stray and quickly proved that while she may share a name with a cartoon character, she's actually pretty close to perfect.

Sure, she looks like someone assembled a dog using spare parts and pure optimism.

But once you get to know her, all of those little quirks fade into the background.

What you notice instead is how sweet she is.

How carefully she approaches new people and places.

How hard she tries.

How deeply she loves once she's decided you're one of her people.

Hei Hei can be a little cautious at first, but give her a little time, and you'll discover a loyal, affectionate companion who's worth every second of the wait.

She's good with dogs, cats, and respectful children 12 and older. All she's looking for is a patient family willing to let her settle in and be herself.

We know she's not the dog most people picture when they think of the "perfect dog."
