GLOCK - ARRIVING IN MAINE OCTOBER 24th - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Berwick, Maine

Meet GLOCK — A Second Chance at a Beautiful Life!

Sometimes the most unexpected places become the beginning of something wonderful. For GLOCK, that place happens to be a county prison, where second chances aren’t just for people — they’re for dogs, too!

GLOCK is an adorable, approximately 18-month-old Schnauzer/long-haired Chihuahua mix with quite a story, and we’re hoping the next chapter will be the very best one yet!

GLOCK originally went to a home where, sadly, he wasn’t receiving the care he deserved. Thankfully, the local sheriff stepped in and recognized that Glock needed a better situation. That intervention led him to a rather unique temporary home — a county prison with a program designed to help dogs in need while giving inmates an opportunity to learn, grow, and make a positive difference.

Through this special program, dogs like GLOCK actually live alongside participating inmates, who help care for them, spend time with them, and work on their training and socialization. The dogs gain companionship, consistency, and valuable human interaction, while the inmates develop patience, compassion, responsibility, and skills that can carry into their futures.

It’s a beautiful reminder that sometimes helping another living being can help heal two lives at once.

And then there’s GLOCK!

Despite his less-than-perfect beginning, GLOCK is described as an incredibly friendly, affectionate little fellow who seems to love everyone he meets! He’s had the opportunity to spend time with people through the prison program, and his outgoing, lovable personality continues to shine.

GLOCK has not yet been around children, but we’re hopeful that we can arrange an introduction so we can learn more about how he does with younger family members.

A few things to know about GLOCK:
Schnauzer/long-haired Chihuahua mix
Approximately 18 months old
Friendly, affectionate, and loves meeting people
Currently participating in a county prison dog-care program
Already neutered and vaccinated
Experience with children is not yet known; we hope to have him evaluated

GLOCK may have started his journey in a home that didn’t give him everything he needed, but that certainly doesn’t have to define his future.

He’s already been given one important second chance by the people who stepped up to help him. Now he needs someone to give him the one thing he doesn’t have yet — a family and a forever home of his very own.

We believe every dog deserves to feel safe, cherished, and loved. GLOCK is no exception.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
