DESCRIPTION
Notes from Lucas' Previous Family:
Lucas is good with other dogs, with normal resource guarding, and sometimes cautiously playful, but he would prefer to be the only dog in the home. No children.
He is significantly more relaxed, comfortable, loving, and playful without another dog in the home, and I believe he would benefit from this very much.
Lucas values a calm, quiet atmosphere, attention from his human, soft beds and blankets, tiny plush squeaky toys, and a stable, predictable schedule. Lucas also values his space when he needs it and will move to a bed or his crate for personal time.
Sometimes Lucas does not want to be touched or petted. He can bite with no warning but will usually warn in the order; piloerection of the back fur, licking, stretching his neck forward and down, baring his teeth, or growling. Sometimes these happen in quick succession and other times they happen more slowly.
Lucas tends to become overstimulated easily with no known reason. During this time, he usually displays piloerection of the fur on his back.
Lucas loves car rides when he gets to sit on his person's lap and stick his head out the window to enjoy the wind and smells (he absolutely must be leashed when doing this to avoid his jumping out the window). He loves a medium-to-large yard that he can roam around and explore, sometimes for 30-40 minutes. He likes walks and enjoys exploring but has gotten better at staying on the path when needed. He has learned the command 'hurry-hurry' for crossing busy streets or needing to leave an area quickly. He also knows 'sit' and 'here' is the command for come.
Interaction with cats is unknown but he does exhibit a fairly strong prey drive.
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
