Update: I really like Jada. She's a sweet, gentle girl who's content to hang out with a friend enjoying treats and pets. She's filled out since coming to the shelter and has gained 14 pounds--going from 77 to 91pounds. She looks great! Even though she's an extra-large dog, she's calm and easy to walk on a leash. I had no problem walking her to the impound room to step on the scale, and when we returned to her kennel, she ignored all the barking from other dogs. She's a great dog and super companion but is only available to rescues because of her breed and size.

Jada is a quiet girl who's trying to figure out her new environment. She stepped forward to be leashed but kept her tail tucked as we entered the interaction pen. I offered her some treats and that seemed to help her feel a little more comfortable. She'd take her treats gently, but I had her sit, and we played catch with treats. She liked that and was now ready for some head scratches in between tosses. I sneaked a ball into our game of catch, but she wasn't having that and dropped the ball right away. That was okay-it was good seeing her more relaxed and having a good time. Jada is easy to walk on a leash, and when I told her it was time to go, she walked to the gate and waited to be leashed. She's a nice dog who needs a little time to feel safe.
