9/20/26-Dottie's first night with us was calm and quiet. She got a little scared when we turned the TV on for the first time. She went into an adjacent room, popped back in to check out the TV a couple more times, and then quietly went into her crate on her own and slept the rest of the evening. She did great sleeping in her crate all night, not a peep out of her. We throw a treat to the back of her crate and she goes right in with no problem. She's feeling refreshed after a bath this morning. She definitely didn't like it and she was squirmy at first, but she settled down after a few minutes. Her coat is trimmed very short right now, but it appears healthy and looks like it will grow out full and fluffy in no time. Dottie continues to get along great with our resident dogs and cats. She has easily joined the pack and walks around with our dogs like she's been here all along. She joined them for a walk this morning and did great. Dottie is slightly hesitant of humans right now, but she has a natural curiosity so she's willing to try trusting us, especially when we have some favorite treats! She takes treats from our hands so gently and is not pushy at all. She does get a little excited for treats and her little tail starts wagging! She loves to follow us around and she will give us a little bump on the back of our knee with her nose when she wants attention. So cute! So far, Dottie has not had any accidents in the house. She seems like she might be used to relieving herself on a hard surface because she doesn't seem to like the grass and has gone to the bathroom on our paved driveway instead. We will be working on getting her more used to relieving herself on grass.

9/19/26-Dottie is settling in great. She’s become fast friends with our resident dogs and is tolerating our overly friendly cats as well. She doesn’t love wearing a collar right now but she’s tolerating it. She follows along with the other dogs and is good on a leash.

09/18/26-Miss Dottie is a sweet 3.5 year old Miniature poodle. She came into rescue today from a commercial breeder as they just didn’t need her anymore. Her pre-spay checkup is next Wednesday 9/23 & due to vet backups her spay is Wednesday 10/14. After her spay she will be ready to go to her new home.
