Andre - Miniature Poodle Dog for Adoption in Birmingham, Alabama

Andre is looking for an experienced foster or adopter!

At 9 years old, Andre has lost just about everything he knew. When his owner passed away unexpectedly, his entire world changed overnight. Since then, hes been passed from place to place, never really getting the chance to settle in and feel safe. More than anything, Andre needs consistency.

Like many dogs who have experienced so much change, Andre has some challenges. He struggles with resource guarding and is fearful of the leash after a bad experience with a trainer. Were working through both, and hes already making progress. Hes also on Prozac to help manage his anxiety, and we believe it is starting to make a difference!

Andre is house trained, crate trained, dog friendly, cat friendly, and has done well with kids. We do think hed be happiest in an adult-only home or one with older, respectful children. An only-pet home may also be the best fit, where he can finally relax and not feel like he has to compete for love or security.

There is a sweet, loyal little dog underneath all of the worry. He just needs someone willing to be patient while he learns that hes safe again
