Meet Boop

Boop is around 9 years old and may be tiny, but this little lady has a whole lot of character packed into her itty-bitty body.

Boop came to us weighing only around 2.5 pounds and has been working hard on putting some weight on. She has teeth in the back of her mouth but none in the front, and she is VERY particular about what she eats. And when we say particular, we mean particular. Hot dogs? No. Steak? No. Treats? Nope. Ice cream?! ALSO NO. Boop has selected her preferred dog food, and she would appreciate it if everyone would stop suggesting alternatives.

She has days where she is surprisingly spunky and days where she believes being a professional napper is a full-time career. Her favorite activities include riding in the car, napping in the sunshine, following her people around, and generally being carried like the tiny princess she is.

Boop isn't a huge fan of being left alone. She may bark in protest at first, but usually settles down after about 10 minutes. Given the choice, though, she would MUCH rather just come with you. Thankfully, at approximately three pounds, she's a pretty easy travel companion.

Ideally, Boop's forever people will be home most of the time or fully committed to making her their tiny adventure buddy and bringing her along whenever they can. She's not looking for a life where she's home alone for long stretches every day-she wants to be with her people, whether that's curled up beside you while you work, riding shotgun for errands, or tagging along on whatever adventure you have planned.

She's about 70% potty trained when kept on a consistent schedule, knows how to go up and down the stairs, and at night she sleeps like an angel. She usually doesn't move all night unless she needs a drink of water or a snack.

Boop adores kids and is happy to soak up their love and attention, but because she is SO incredibly tiny and fragile, she needs children who understand how careful they have to be with her. For this reason, we're recommending children over the age of 6 who are dog-savvy and able to handle her appropriately. Boop absolutely cannot be dropped-at her size, even an accidental fall could cause a serious injury.

And then there's the reason behind her name.
A few weeks ago, Boop had a little "boop" removed from her nose. Since having it removed, she has been feeling SO much better, and we've gotten to see even more of her sweet, spunky personality come out.

Unfortunately, the biopsy did come back cancerous. It was a plasma cell tumor, and while these tumors are typically unlikely to spread elsewhere in the body, the margins were not completely clear. Her veterinarian estimates there is about a 50/50 chance that at some point down the road it could grow back in the same area.

For now, there is nothing that needs to be done other than keeping an eye on that adorable little nose. If it does eventually return, her family would need to discuss next steps with a veterinarian, which could include another surgery to remove it with wider margins.

Boop isn't looking for someone who expects perfection. She's looking for someone who sees a tiny, quirky senior girl with a few extra needs and thinks, "Yep. That's my dog."
She wants sunshine.
She wants car rides.
She wants her heated bed.
She wants her one acceptable brand of food.
She wants to go wherever you're going.
And most importantly, she wants a person who will love all approximately three pounds of her for however long she gets to be theirs.
Boop deserves her person. Could it be you?
