Hello, my name is Heathcliff! I am a 3-year-old Maltese/Havanese mix weighing around 9 pounds, and I am looking for a family to call my own. I may be small, but I have a big personality and plenty of energy to keep life fun and exciting. I am a friendly, playful boy who loves toys and enjoys spending time with other dogs that are similar in size, age, and energy level. I am still learning about the world around me and will need a family that understands the time, patience, and commitment required to help a young dog continue to mature into a well-mannered companion. I am crate trained and working on my house training, but I will need consistency and positive reinforcement as I continue to learn. I enjoy playing, exploring, and staying active, so a securely fenced yard is important for my safety. I am also quite curious and have been known to be an escape artist, so my family will need to be careful when opening doors and gates. I can be vocal when I am playing or left alone, so I would likely do best in a home rather than an apartment setting. Because of my breed mix, I will also require regular grooming throughout my life to keep my coat healthy and looking its best. I am neutered, microchipped, current on my rabies vaccination and annual vaccines, and heartworm negative. My adoption fee is $125. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.
