Meet Rufus, the Gentle Giant

Rufus is a sweet, affectionate gentleman who has a lot of love to give! He is an older guy, so while he gets along with dogs, he would probably be happiest in a quieter home without a young, boisterous, or overly energetic dog constantly wanting to play. A calm canine companion—or even being the only dog—would allow him to relax and enjoy the easygoing life he deserves. He also enjoys the company of cats and would be great in a home that had feline companions.

While he generally enjoys the company of other dogs, he can be a little possessive of his water bowl and may growl if another dog approaches while he’s drinking. Because of this, his new family should be prepared to manage food and water separately and give him his own space during mealtimes if there are other pets in the home. It’s best not to give him the opportunity to feel like he needs to guard his resources.

Despite being an older gentleman, he still has plenty of personality and is very sweet and loving. He enjoys being around his people and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a gentle, affectionate dog.

He’s a lovable guy who would thrive with someone who appreciates a calmer pace, gives him a little space around his resources, and lets him enjoy all the love, companionship, and cozy time he has to offer.
