Maverick - Labrador Retriever Dog for Adoption in Wilton, California

Meet Maverick, a handsome Labrador mix with a heartwarming story of survival, resilience, and second chances.

Maverick's life didn't start the way any puppy's should. At just three months old, he and his sister Charlie were abandoned in an orchard along Tallahachie Road. Frightened, hungry, and alone, the two puppies had only each other to depend on.

For months, Maverick and Charlie survived outdoors, dodging speeding cars, avoiding predators, and learning to fear the very people who should have protected them. Thankfully, compassionate neighbors made sure they had food while working with Wilton Animal Rescue to bring them to safety.

On December 31, 2025, Maverick was finally rescued. After spending much of his young life without human companionship, he understandably needed time to learn that people could be trusted.

Since arriving at Wilton Animal Rescue, Maverick has begun his journey from a frightened, undersocialized puppy to a dog discovering the comforts of safety and gentle human kindness.

Maverick Needs a Foster Home!

We are looking for a patient, compassionate foster family willing to help Maverick take the next steps toward becoming a confident, well-adjusted companion. His foster home will play an important role in helping him with:

Socialization: Building confidence and learning to trust people through gentle, positive experiences.

Basic obedience: Learning everyday skills, routines, and good manners using positive reinforcement.

House training: Establishing consistent routines and learning the basics of living in a home.

Maverick needs someone who understands that progress takes time and that even the smallest victories deserve celebration. A calm, loving environment and consistent encouragement can make an incredible difference in his life.

Maverick has already survived so much. Now he deserves the opportunity to discover what it means to feel safe, loved, and secure.

Could you open your home and heart to Maverick and help prepare him for his forever family?
