Jack - Labrador Retriever and American Bully Dog for Adoption in Toronto, Ontario

Playful, Well-balanced & Easy-Going guy!

Four months ago Jack came into our care after being found emaciated (30 lbs under weight) and requiring daily baths to now being at a healthy weight with a beautiful, shiny coat and ready for his forever home.

He is an incredible dog who went through all the treatment and care with patience, courage and trust that the humans caring for him would make him feel better - which says a bunch about how resilient Jack is.

BIO:
- Lab/Bully mix, 2.5 yrs, Male (neutered)
- Large (84 lb), Medium energy
- Jack is house-trained, crate-trained microchipped and has his core vaccinations

ABOUT JACK:
- Jack is good on a leash, he walks well and has great impulse control — he'll sit quietly and watch squirrels or rabbits pass without darting after them
- Jack is social with other dogs — some dogs bring out his full puppy prance, bouncy and joyful, while with other dogs he's calm and observant, taking his cues without forcing interaction
- He wants to be next to his person and will position himself so that some part of him is always touching you.
- He is a dog that thrives on engagement and mental stimulation — puzzle toys, tug, and a good game of fetch are perfect outlets for his energy
- He rests in his crate as his cosy safe space, coming and going freely all day, and will go to it on a verbal cue. He prefers the door left open
- Loves the car — jumps right in and settles down happily
- He has not shown any signs of resource guarding, separation anxiety or leash reactivity
- He requires a daily allergy pill and hypoallergenic diet and regular bathing with a medicated wash for his skin. He stands still through full-body washes, lets you lift his paws and handle his tail without complaint. With consistent care his skin condition is well managed.

JACK'S IDEAL HOME:
- Jack would love an active family. He has a natural curiosity about the world and would make a wonderful hiking companion — somewhere he can explore, sniff everything
- A quieter house with a backyard and away from heavy traffic and constant urban noise - loud vehicles like garbage trucks and motorcycles can still startle him, will give him the space to keep growing in confidence at his own pace.
- Jack is happiest in one of two places: right next to his person, pressed close with a contented sigh, or outside with his nose to the ground. A home where someone is around more often than not would suit him well.
- He shows an interest in children, older children would be best given his size.
- Jack may be good with another dog in the home, if his potential adopter already has a dog, we will arrange for a meet & greet. We are not recommending him for a home with a cat.
- Jack may do well in a shared wall environment, he is quiet and will only let out an occasional bark when someone approaches the house
