Bear is a 7 year old, 64 pound Lab/Retriever mix, spayed, and up to date on her vetting, originally adopted through our rescue 6 years ago.
Bear needs a new and very special home. Bear really struggles when left alone, especially, when her family travels to stay at the cottage or with friends. She has clawed and chewed at door and window frames and actually squeezed out of windows to escape in her panic. Her family are seniors needing to leave their home to go to medical appointments, etc. and no longer feel they can care for her.
Bear is house trained, good with children and adults, good in the car, and has not guarded anything from people/dogs/cats. She loves to swim and play fetch. Bear's ideal home would initially have someone home all the time and be willing to seek professional help to guide them through her separation anxiety with the ultimate goal of being able to safely leave her home alone.
She would prefer not to live with other dogs and chases cats. On leash she may pull a bit and it is hit or miss whether she will prefer to meet other dogs or lunge and bark at them. Bear really needs your help! If you think you can offer her the home and help she needs please complete our Adoption Application available here: https://www.speakingofdogs.com/adoption/adoption-process/.
