JASPER has good kiddo syndrome (meaning he is great with EVERYBODY - men, women, and children, as well as other dogs of all sizes). He hasn't had much opportunity to interact with kitties, however, he has had exposure to the feral cats in his area, and simply maintains a calm demeanor.

Jasper is about 3 years old, around 55-60 lbs, and is guessed to be a lab shepherd mix. His coat is a bit thicker than the average lab, and his ears are a cute floppy for a shepherd. He appears to be more "lab-ish," so we refer to him more as a lab mix than anything else.

Jasper is a friendly pup as already mentioned, has a great demeanor, and is just well-rounded overall. Mr Jasper is simply a nice and easy get-along kind of pup. You want to go out on for a walk or hike? He is game! You want to stay home and snuggle? He is game! Or maybe you just want to hang out at home, and do your own thing? That works too! He is just be happy in your company. He is naturally inclined to go along with whatever is going on. He is well-mannered, and not the type to jump on people. He is young, energetic and athletic. We would rate him an 8 on a 1-10 scale on energy, but he is not hyper.

This sweetheart is affectionate - loves to love and be loved, and really appreciates being around people. He is loyal, and a great companion to have around and is ready to greet you when you come home. Jasper has not shown any signs of protectiveness, however, due to his loyal nature, we believe that if his people were ever in danger, he would not hesitate to protect them.

His foster says "I like everything about this dog. Just real sweet - a family type dog, who would be up for camping, and is also the type who would stick around without a leash."

Jasper appreciates his food, but is not one who swallows the bowl whole. He does love treats and also "hotty dogs." He is currently housed on a ranch at a boarding facility so he is contained in a kennel. We assume he is house-trained as he keeps his area clean, and if he isn't, we suspect he would learn fast. We are told he is really smart, and does already know how to SIT. He is also a fan of car rides (in case you want to take him wherever you go, or on random adventures).

This boy might sound too good to be true. However we have not seen any signs of separation or storm anxiety, nor any behavioral concerns. In fact, Jasper was confiscated, along with about 86 other pups in a recent cruelty case. When found he was stuffed inside a crate with another big dog, where they had to endure the feces and filth that accumulated during their neglect. ANY PUP who remains friendly with another dog in such tight quarters, and a high stress environment, is a pup who has learned to self-regulate. This boy is tried and true, and deserves great love and great living.

Jasper has decompressed from the past situation miraculously well, and is ready for his new home and family. He is looking for anyone who is generally happy, and appreciates the companionship that a good dog brings. If this could be you, please complete an application per the link below.
