Penny - Labrador Retriever Dog for Adoption in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Here's Penny, a charming 7 year old Labrador Retriever mix who blends medium-energy playfulness with champion level couch snuggling. At 7, she has moved past the chaotic puppy stage into a relaxed groove, perfectly content with a solid daily walk, a fun toy-tossing session, and plenty of cozy downtime by your side. Penny is guaranteed to bring daily smiles with her signature upside-down lounging technique: she readily flips over for belly rubs, stretches her front paws high into the air, and beams with an endearing, goofy grin where her teeth stick right out.

Penny is as clever as she is sweet, with a sharp mind that shines whenever learning is on the agenda. She attended multiple Fit Dog classes at Canine Coach, earning rave reviews from instructors for how quickly she absorbs new skills and masters enrichment games. She is fully house-trained, remarkably easygoing during grooming routines like nail trims, and very eager to work for treats—especially when her meals are dressed up with a special canned food topper. When new people arrive, she usually offers an alert bark to announce the doorbell, but she settles down quickly once introductions are made.

When it comes to four-legged housemates, Penny firmly believes she is meant to be the queen of the castle. She is dog selective. While she can manage polite, controlled interactions when out and about, she strongly prefers not to share her home or her beloved toy collection with another dog. She also possesses a keen chase instinct, meaning homes with cats or small animals are a firm no. Penny will flourish most as the only pet, where her toys remain entirely hers and she can soak up all the affection without any sibling rivalry.

Penny’s dream forever home is a peaceful household in a quiet neighborhood featuring a securely fenced yard where she can stretch her legs and romp with her toys. Because she is an expressive girl who likes to speak her mind, she is not suited for apartment, condo, or shared-wall living. If you are looking for a devoted, smart companion who will reward you with eager training sessions, silly belly-up cuddles, and steadfast loyalty, Penny is ready to steal your heart.
