Alex – ID# 22249 – Kennel 881 – Arrived September 1st, 2026 – Labrador Retriever mix – black and white – Female – 2 years old – 50 lbs – Will be spayed prior to adoption – Up to date on vaccines – Heartworm positive
Alex is a sweet, calm girl with a glossy black coat and crisp white markings on her chest and paws. Her gentle demeanor and soft, warm eyes make it easy to imagine her curled up at the foot of someone's bed, finally settled.
Alex's most recent owners only had her for a few hours before deciding not to keep her — a heartbreakingly short window for a dog who clearly has so much to offer. Despite that, she hasn't let it dim her spirit. She's playful, sits nicely for treats, and walks beautifully on a leash, all signs of a girl who is ready and willing to trust again.
Alex is heartworm positive, a diagnosis that can sound scary but is very treatable. If you live in Georgia, Cobb Animal Services will cover the entire cost of her heartworm treatment if you adopt her. You simply need to bring her back for her scheduled treatment appointments and give the prescribed oral medication at home. Heartworms are not contagious between dogs, and with proper treatment and care, heartworm-positive dogs like Alex can go on to live full, happy lives.
At just 2 years old, Alex has so much life left to live, and she deserves a home where she isn't given up on again. She's calm, she's sweet, and she's ready to love someone with her whole heart — all she needs now is a family willing to do the same for her.
