Meet little Leo, a not quite three-month-old pup with the heart of a lion. Leo and his siblings were born on the beach in Piñones Loiza, a neighborhood in Puerto Rico. Luckily, they were caught and taken to safety. Leo was the very first one caught - almost like he knew those humans had something better in store for him!
One of our volunteers was in Puerto Rico for the Bad Bunny concert, and brought Leo home with her! She's now his foster mom, and he's learning how to live in a house. Leo is initially shy, but warms up and does seek out pets and cuddles. A few things about Leo:
-He has a tiny little tail, and when it gets going, it's the cutest thing ever
-Toys! Leo has never met a toy he hasn't immediately fallen in love with
-He loves his foster siblings and wants to be part of the action at all times
-We're pretty sure Leo thinks he is the same size as his large foster siblings
-He's a quick study with potty training and making great progress
-Leo is food motivated, so we anticipate training won't be an issue
Leo isn't neutered yet and still needs to finish his vaccine cycle, but he is available as a foster-to-adopt. This is when a future owner takes over as the foster, and once all the adoption criteria are met, they complete the process!
Usually, satos (homeless dogs from Puerto Rico) are a mix of many breeds, some chihuahua, some lab, maybe some pittie - you name it! They are always loving and grateful.
We do not know what breed Leo is, likely a lab mix, maybe a little chihuahua - who knows! Whatever he is, it's a darling combo. We anticipate he will grow into a medium-sized adult, possibly around 30-45 lb, but of course, they do sometimes surprise us!
If you are interested in adopting our Leo, please fill out the application here. There is a $400 adoption donation:
