My name is Alexander, and I’m a 7-month-old black lab. The humans tell me I weigh about 40 pounds, which feels like a lot of happy wiggles and eager tail thumps to me.

My world is full of fantastic smells, fun noises, and the best part – people! Oh, how I love people. Little ones who giggle when I give them a gentle lick, grown-ups who scratch that perfect spot behind my ears, and even the older folks who move a little slower – they all have such kind hands.

My walks are the highlight of my day. I’m a good walker, you see. I don’t pull, mostly because I’m too busy looking for my next friendly face. Stopping to say hello to neighbors is my absolute favorite thing. Their smiles are as warm as a sunbeam, and sometimes, if I’m very lucky, they might even have a tiny treat tucked away.

Other dogs are pretty great too. We can sniff each other's bottoms and do that happy dance with our wagging tails. We understand each other without even needing words. And when it’s time for a rest, my crate is a cozy den. It smells like home, and I can curl up and dream of all the wonderful things I’ll do tomorrow.

The humans are working on something called "potty training" with me. It’s a bit confusing sometimes, but I try my very best to get it right. They’re patient, and I know one day I’ll be perfect at it. For now, I’m just happy with the exciting world I get to explore, one wag and one greeting at a time.
