Some puppies demand attention every second of the day.And then there are rare puppies like Miles... the ones who quietly work their way straight into your heart and stay there forever.

Miles is a stunning 4-month-old Chocolate Lab/Aussie mix weighing about 19 pounds, and there is something incredibly special about this boy. From the moment you meet him, you feel it. He has this calm, thoughtful presence that makes him seem wise far beyond his puppy age — like an old soul wrapped up in the softest chocolate-colored fur imaginable.

His life began with heartbreak. Miles and his siblings were found wandering alone on a deserted country road in rural Tennessee after their mother and another sibling were tragically struck and killed by a car. Confused, vulnerable, and far too young to survive on their own, the remaining puppies were thankfully rescued and taken to a small local shelter where Critter Cavalry Rescue quickly stepped in to save them. And thank goodness they did, because Miles is truly the kind of dog people spend years hoping to find.

This boy has the sweetest, gentlest spirit. He loves people deeply, but he is not demanding or clingy. He doesn’t need to constantly be in your lap or begging for attention to feel secure. Instead, Miles is happiest simply being near you — stretched out on the sofa a few feet away, quietly soaking in the comfort of companionship and love. There is something so peaceful and reassuring about him. He is the kind of dog who makes a house feel calmer just by being there.

Miles is wonderful with young children, loves other dogs, and does beautifully with cats as well. He is smart, observant, quiet, and incredibly intuitive. His foster mom says he learns quickly and is already doing amazingly well with house training when kept on a regular schedule — an impressive accomplishment for such a young puppy adjusting to a whole new life. He is currently learning all the important manners that will help him grow into the incredible adult dog he is clearly meant to become.

We expect Miles to grow into a gorgeous medium-sized companion around 50 pounds, making him the perfect size for so many homes and lifestyles.
