This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

If your birthday is in August, then get excited to meet Peridot Gem, a 10-week-old Lab/Hound mix, weighing 16 pounds (as of 2/11/26). Peridot (or Perry if that's easier to pronounce) and his siblings are known as the GEM litter! While they were strays that were surrendered in Tennessee, they know that "treasure is what they are" (like the Bruno Mars song!) The GEM litter can't wait to add some glitter and sparkle to your life 'cause let's be real, you need it!
Known as the "evening emerald" Peridot takes his name to heart! He's an easygoing hound with a gentle nature, so no drama please (but that doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate good gossip)! This big-boned boy enjoys exploring at his own pace, with his ears flopping along the way. It's actually a funny sight and sure to make you smile. That's what he's here for! To do absolutely nothing but cheer you up all day long. Peridot loves settling in for a good nap so if you're the type to never leave your house, he'll be the perfect companion to enjoy those frosty winter nights cuddled up near the fireplace. Isn't that cozy? He thinks so.
Peridot is also a friend to dogs and kiddos! He hasn't had experience with cats yet, but he'll try his hardest to win them over too, 'cause, as you know, that would be the ultimate accomplishment. Peridot also has the most adorable bobbed tail!
Since the GEM pups are still babies, all they ask from their future family is patience and love as they master the ABCs of puppy training (leash walking, crates, potty and commands!) But you can bet when they do, they'll shine even brighter than before, making your home the sparkliest one on the block!
Adopt Peridot today and get ready for a whole lot of "oohs!" and "aahs!"
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
