If scruffy little terriers are your weakness, Jack may have you wrapped around his paw in no time.

Jack is a 7-year-old Jack Russell Terrier with an adorable grey-and-brown scruffy face and a lively personality to match. His surrender paperwork describes him simply—and pretty accurately—as “happy and lively and sweet.”

Jack is an alert, curious guy who likes to know what’s happening around him. He takes in every new sight, sound and smell and has already discovered that the windows at The Ranch provide excellent opportunities for keeping tabs on the neighborhood. He has an adorable little prance when he walks, and his tail seems to spend most of its time wagging.

Although Jack isn’t a big cuddler, he enjoys being near his people. Once he has finished investigating his surroundings, he’s content to lie beside you and relax. Think companion rather than lap dog—a little buddy who wants to be part of your world without necessarily needing to be on top of you.

Jack has been reported to get along with other dogs and has no reported history of aggression or biting. He is currently sharing space at The Ranch while we continue learning more about his personality. His history with cats and children is not yet known.

There is one especially important thing Jack’s future family needs to understand: this boy has some serious explorer instincts. Before coming to Imagine FURever Ranch, Jack lived without a fenced yard and became accustomed to roaming the neighborhood. His surrender application notes that he had even been struck by a vehicle in the past in what was described as a glancing blow.

Because of that history, Jack needs a family committed to keeping him safe. Doors and gates will need to be securely closed, leashes properly fitted and handled carefully, and any outdoor space will need to be secure. Jack is clever, quick and very willing to take advantage of an opening if he finds one!

Jack may be seven, but he certainly hasn’t received the memo that he’s supposed to slow down. He’s bright, busy, sweet and full of terrier charm—and he’s ready to trade his wandering days for the safety and security of a FURever home!
