Meet Nelly - aka Nervous Nelly!
She didn't run into our arms the first time we met her either. And honestly? That's what makes her story so good.
Nelly is a shy girl at first - a little cautious, a little unsure - but give her the time she needs and she will absolutely steal your heart. If you've heard of the 3-3-3 rule in rescue, you already know what we mean. If not, here's the short version: rescue dogs need roughly 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn the routine, and 3 months to truly feel at home. Nelly is a textbook example of why that patience pays off.
Once she finds her footing, the "Nervous" in Nervous Nelly disappears entirely. She loves everyone - kids, adults, and yes, the four-legged family members too. She'll become your shadow in the best possible way, trotting along beside you like your most loyal little helper. She doesn't chew, doesn't destroy, doesn't need a crate. What she does need is a spot on the couch next to you and a little corner of your bed - where she will curl up and sleep soundly all night long.
Nelly is about 3 years old and a petite 11 pounds of pure sweetness.
If you're the kind of person who understands that the best things take a little time, Nelly is your girl.
