Italian Greyhound Dogs Available for Adoption in Edgewater, Maryland

Nachi is a sweet, affectionate 2.5 year old, Italian Greyhound with a big personality who thrives with calm, confident guidance. He came to us with no training and a history of instability, which led him to feel he needed to be in charge. After two months of dedicated work in his foster home, he’s learned that life is much easier when he can trust his humans to lead. He’s now ready for an adoptive home that will continue building on his progress.

To help Nachi succeed, his forever home should provide:

* A calm household: A peaceful environment where someone is home most of the time.
* Confident leadership: A consistent routine, clear boundaries, and calm direction. Experience with behavior training is a plus.
* A mentor dog: Ideally, an older Italian Greyhound or similar sighthound who can model good behavior and tolerate his energy.

Nachi enjoys meeting new people and is gaining confidence with his social skills. He is recently house-trained and will need to continue going outside only (no indoor pads) to stay on track. He settles well in his crate when it’s a positive choice, and currently wears a male wrap indoors as a precaution while reinforcing his habits.

Nachi also overcame a severe leg injury and has shown incredible resilience throughout his recovery. With the help of his dedicated foster, he’s made tremendous progress both physically and emotionally. He is currently on Fluoxetine (10 mg twice daily, generic Prozac) and monthly heartworm prevention.
