Delta’s story began on the streets of Houston when she was found at just 2 months old. Unfortunately, she spent much of her young life living in a kennel. Now that she’s finally experiencing life in a loving foster home, her incredible personality is beginning to shine!

Delta is believed to be a Husky mixed with some type of Sighthound, and she has the intelligence, energy, and personality to match! She is incredibly smart, eager to please, and picks up on new commands quickly. Despite her rough start, Delta has a wonderfully sweet, even-tempered, and submissive personality.

Here’s what makes Delta so special:

* Dog-friendly: She gets along wonderfully with the four other dogs in her foster home and has been great about sharing.
* Cat-friendly: She has been around cats and seems to do well with them.
* People-loving: Delta has never met a stranger! She is friendly, affectionate, and loves human attention.
* Smart and eager to learn: She catches on to commands quickly and thrives with positive reinforcement.
* Crate training: She may vocalize briefly when first kenneled, but she settles down quickly and sleeps through the night.
* Potty training: Because she spent so much of her puppyhood in a kennel, she is still learning proper potty habits. She has improved with zero accidents in the house, but if left in her kennel for extended hours, she cant hold her pee. Her foster family is working with her!
* Affectionate: Although she has plenty of puppy energy, once she gets her exercise, she transforms into the biggest snuggle bug!

Delta also does exceptionally well with being handled and has shown a high tolerance for physical affection and interaction without becoming fearful or stressed.

What kind of home would be best for Delta?

Delta would thrive with an active family that enjoys spending time outdoors, going on walks, playing, and providing plenty of opportunities for exercise. She is still a young dog with lots of energy, so she needs a family willing to continue her training and provide structure, patience, and consistency.

While Delta hasn’t been around children in her foster home, she has shown nothing but friendliness toward the people she meets.

With the right family, we truly believe Delta will grow into an incredible lifelong companion. She has already proven just how resilient, loving, and intelligent she is. All she needs now is someone willing to give her the chance she deserves.

Before adoption is finalized, Delta will be fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. She will also receive a health certificate before transport.

Delta has spent enough of her life waiting behind kennel doors. Now it’s her turn to experience everything a loving home has to offer.
