Meet Kita!

At around 7 years old, Kita is a beautiful Husky mix who is finally getting the chance to learn what life as a beloved family dog can look like.

Before coming to RARE, Kita had spent years living outside on a chain alongside Diego, who we believe is her son. When we learned their owner was planning to euthanize them, we knew we had to step in; even though we didn't have much of a plan beyond getting them somewhere safe.

When Kita arrived, she was covered in fleas and desperately needed some TLC. But underneath everything she had been through was an incredibly deserving girl ready for her fresh start.

Kita is:

-Sweet and affectionate
-Good with dogs
-Good with cats
-Good with kids
-Has spent much of her life outdoors and is adjusting to life as an indoor companion
-Ready to experience all the comforts she missed out on before

At 7, Kita still has so much life ahead of her, and we'd love for those years to be filled with soft beds, adventures, love, and the security of knowing she's home.

Kita came to us with Diego, who we believe is her son. They've shared a lot of their lives together, but what matters most is finding each of them the loving, committed home they deserve.

The husky breed is renowned for its striking appearance, characterized by piercing eyes and a thick double coat. These medium sized, energetic dogs are known for their friendly and outgoing personalities, making them wonderful companions for active families. Originally bred for sledding and endurance in cold climates, huskies are intelligent and independent, often displaying a strong prey drive. Proper training and regular exercise are crucial to keep these playful and social animals happy and well adjusted.
