Meet Harley!
This stunning girl is ready to ring in the holiday season with a forever family! Harley is approximately 1 year and 7 months old and weighs around 45–50 lbs, which appears to be her full-grown size. Without a DNA test, we cannot confirm her breed, but her medical records list her as a Kelpie/Husky mix. With her sleek coat, tall ears, and striking blue eyes, she certainly knows how to turn heads!
We don’t know much about Harley’s past, but we do know that she was found as a stray in Texas and eventually made her way into one of the shelters we work with. She has been waiting since September for someone to give her a chance, and we would love to see her next chapter begin in a loving home.
The shelter describes Harley as a wonderful combination of silly, sweet, and affectionate. She loves being close to her people and is happiest when she can be right by your side. Whether you’re heading out for a walk or spending time together at home, Harley sounds eager to be part of the fun.
Harley is reportedly dog-friendly and social, enjoying playtime with her canine pals. She could be a wonderful match for a home with a compatible dog who would enjoy a playful companion. Another dog is not required, though, and she could also thrive as the only dog with a family committed to giving her plenty of attention, exercise, and opportunities to socialize.
The shelter also reports that Harley is a happy, polite, and enthusiastic walking partner. This gives her future family a great starting point for daily walks, outdoor adventures, and continuing her training. As a young dog, she will need consistent physical activity and mental enrichment to help her stay happy and engaged.
Her adopter should be prepared to continue working on basic obedience, household manners, and establishing a dependable potty routine. We do not have confirmation that Harley is fully house-trained, and even dogs with previous training may need reminders when adjusting to a new environment. Patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement will help her learn what is expected of her.
Moving from a shelter into a home is a big transition. Harley will need time to decompress, settle into a routine, and become comfortable with her new surroundings. Her future family should be ready to let her adjust at her own pace while providing gentle guidance, structure, and affection.
We do not have a confirmed history of Harley living with children. Her affectionate, social personality is encouraging, but any potential match should consider her size, youthful enthusiasm, and the children’s comfort around dogs. Introductions should be gradual, and interactions should always be supervised.
We do not currently have information about Harley’s behavior around cats or chickens. Compatibility with either cannot be assumed, and any home with these animals would need further discussion and assessment before moving forward.
We would love to see Harley in a home with access to a yard, ideally one that is securely fenced, where she can safely play and explore. However, a fenced yard is not a requirement. Apartments and condos may also be considered on a case-by-case basis as long as her adopter is committed to consistently meeting her daily exercise, training, and enrichment needs.
Most importantly, Harley needs someone who sees beyond her beautiful eyes and is ready to make a lifelong commitment to the dog behind them. She has affection, personality, and playful energy to share, and we think she could make a wonderful companion for a family willing to give her the time and care she deserves.
The shelter where Harley is currently staying is severely overcrowded, and dogs like her face uncertain futures simply because there is not enough space. We would love nothing more than to see her trade her shelter kennel for a loving home and a family to spend the holidays with.
HEALTH:
Harley is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, on monthly preventatives, and heartworm negative.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
All of our dogs, including Harley, are currently located in Texas and will be transported to their adopters once the adoption is finalized. Transportation is included in the adoption fee. Please note that adopters will not be able to meet Harley in person prior to committing, as transport occurs after the adoption has been finalized.
Breed labels are educated guesses based on appearance and available shelter or medical records. We encourage adopters to focus on each dog’s individual personality, needs, and long-term compatibility rather than breed alone.
