Hi, I’m Ruby 🐾💛
I’m a 1-and-ahalf-year-old Siberian Husky, and I’m just beginning my next chapter after a very big, very overwhelming change in my life. I'm new here at Arctic Rescue and still getting used to things.
I was recently evacuated from Eureka during the fires and moved between placements, and all of that transition left me feeling pretty shut down and unsure of the world around me. At first, I mostly just wanted to hide or bolt from new situations—but even in those early moments, I’ve never shown aggression or reactivity. I’m a soft, sensitive girl who just needs time to feel safe.
As I’ve started to decompress, something really beautiful has begun to happen: I’m slowly coming back to myself. I’ve started seeking out affection, gently allowing trust to build, and even letting people help me with things like brushing out my coat. The more I feel safe, the more my sweet personality begins to show.
I’ve been described as very social and generally good with dogs, cats, and even children. I’ve done well with other dogs in my temporary foster environments, especially calmer, confident companions. I can be a little unsure around high-energy or overly forward dogs at first, but I don’t show aggression—just caution while I figure things out.
I’m also crate trained, potty trained, and very intelligent. Once I settle in, I’m likely to pick up routines and training quickly, especially with a calm and patient approach.
Right now, I’m still in my “decompression phase,” which means I need time, consistency, and a gentle environment where I can learn to trust again at my own pace. I’m not a dog who will shine immediately—but I am a dog who has all the pieces to become something really special with the right support.
At my core, I’m a very sweet, sensitive young Husky who just needs a safe place to land and someone willing to let me unfold slowly.
All Arctic Rescue dogs are marked “yes” to “Needs Experienced Adopter.” This is because Northern Breeds typically have higher exercise, training, and care requirements than others. We recommend thoroughly researching the breed before pursuing adoption, if you do not have prior experience.
