Leo is a 5-year-old male handsome husky mix who brings together the best of both worlds: a playful spirit and an easygoing, well-mannered nature. He has settled beautifully into foster care and is now ready to find a family to call his own. With his gentle personality and love for companionship, Leo is the kind of dog who fits right into everyday life and makes himself at home.
Leo is housetrained, crate trained, and does great in the car. He is wonderful with toddlers and has shown himself to be a loving, patient companion with children. He has lived with other dogs in his foster home and enjoys playtime, showing off his fun, social side. His foster describes him as "a really sweet guy and just so easygoing," noting that he loves his toys, listens well, and has confidently taken on new experiences like a champ. Whether it's a busy day or a quiet evening, Leo is happy to be part of it all.
Leo has a few things he is continuing to work on. Around high-value items like human food or his meals, he prefers his own space and may guard his food from other dogs, so feeding separately and continuing positive training will help him feel comfortable and secure. He can be a little timid when meeting some men at first, but with a calm introduction and a bit of time, he warms up nicely and builds strong, trusting relationships. Leo had a past injury to his back foot that healed on its own that may look different. Recently Leo had one toe amputated on that foot. He is healing well and it does not stop him from enjoying his daily activities and living a happy, active life.
Leo would do best in a home that can offer structure, understanding, and continued guidance, especially around feeding routines with other dogs. He could live with another well-balanced dog who respects boundaries, or as a solo dog soaking up all the attention. A family who will give him time to settle in and continue building his confidence will be rewarded with a loyal, loving companion. Leo truly is a wonderful, well-rounded dog who is ready to bring joy, playfulness, and companionship to his forever home.
