DESCRIPTION
I’m Skye. Strong-Willed, Smart, and Still Holding Onto Hope.
I’m currently in California, but my bags are packed, and I’ll be ready to travel to my forever home once I’m fully healed. Maybe that home is with you.
I’m a 2-year-old Husky/German Shepherd mix with a big brain, a strong spirit, and energy that never fully shuts off — even when life gets hard.
I came into the shelter as a stray with an injury to my back leg, but even then, I kept trying to move forward. That’s just who I am. Curious. Alert. Determined. I still want to see the world, even while I’m healing.
Right now, my left hind leg is recovering, and I’m getting the medical care I need. I’ve had treatment, I’m on medication, and the vet team is helping me heal properly. What I need next is something a shelter can’t fully provide:
Peace.
Consistency.
A home.
Because dogs like me don’t do well sitting still in loud, stressful environments with nowhere to put our energy or emotions.
I’m smart and observant, and I notice everything around me. I’ve got that classic Husky-Shepherd personality — active, engaged, and always wanting to be involved in whatever my people are doing. Sometimes that energy can come out as restlessness in the kennel, but it’s not because I’m a bad dog.
It’s because I’m still trying to live.
What I really need right now is a medical foster or adopter who understands working breeds and believes in giving dogs time to settle, decompress, and heal both physically and emotionally.
Someone patient.
Someone kind.
Someone who sees potential instead of problems.
Because underneath the healing leg and shelter stress is a really incredible dog waiting for her chance.
A dog who still believes life can get better.
A dog who still wants to trust.
A dog who’s ready to love deeply once she finally feels safe.
I’m Skye.
And I’m hoping my next chapter is the one where everything finally changes.
