DESCRIPTION

Meet Georgia!

Georgia is a sweet, gentle and intelligent hound girl who is learning that life can be pretty wonderful. At approximately 23 years old and weighing 32 pounds, she has a lovely balance of playful energy and a calm, affectionate side.

Georgia is a medium-energy dog who enjoys being active, exploring and, of course, following her nose! She absolutely loves going outside to sniff and investigate squirrels and everything else her hound nose can discover. She would do best with a family who enjoys walks, outdoor adventures and providing her with plenty of mental stimulation. Hounds are smart working dogs, and giving Georgia a purpose will help keep her happy and prevent boredom.

She walks well on leash and is very smart, although some basic obedience training is always encouraged. She has already made great progress with her manners, especially learning not to jump up on people.

Georgia is great with other dogs and particularly enjoys smaller, playful dogs. She occasionally likes to grab a stuffie and do hilarious zoomies while the other dogs chase her. Once shes had her fun, shell happily drop the toy and settle down for a rest. Georgia shows no aggression or guarding with her toys or food. She would love to go to dog park for daily exercise. Georgina is very friendly with people also!

She has a big hound personality—and a typical hound voice! Georgia has the classic loud hound howl and is not shy about letting you know when its dinner time. Because she can be quite vocal, she would not be suitable for an apartment or condo. A home where her beautiful hound voice wont disturb neighbours is a must.

Georgia has a history of trying to climb or jump over fencing, so she should never be left unsupervised in a backyard. A securely fenced yard and supervision are important.

When left alone, Georgia is crated in a large, comfortable crate. She may bark initially, but she settles with time. She has made great progress with her confidence and mild separation concerns. Yet that was when she just arrived after being in a scary shelter. When she first arrived, she wanted to know where her person was at all times, but shes now becoming more independent and is beginning to venture off on her own or relax with the other dogs.

At night, Georgia sleeps peacefully curled up in a dog bed beside her persons bed and sleeps through the night.

And when it comes to affection, Georgia is a sweetheart. She loves sitting beside her person with her head resting on their shoulder. Shes gentle, loving and enjoys being close without needing to be attached to you every second of the day. Shes becoming more confident about doing her own thing, which is wonderful to see.
