Marsha Dale comes from a prominent local family.

Prominent mostly because we have been dealing with them for years.

She is a descendant of the Dollar General dogs, a long and complicated Franklin County dynasty whose family tree we have spent an unreasonable amount of time attempting to reconstruct.

And one look at Marsha Dale confirms it.

We have seen that face before.

The Dale bloodline is strong.

The thoughts are not.

Marsha Dale has the unmistakable Dale face: stern, skeptical, vaguely disappointed, and prepared to issue a ruling.

Behind that face is a puppy who is mostly just thrilled to be here.

She is goofy, affectionate, playful, and deeply unserious. She likes people. She likes other dogs. She likes carrying things around. She likes being involved.

She has never encountered a situation she didn’t think could benefit from Marsha Dale.

Recently, Hank—her current roommate—was adopted.

He leaves Friday and will begin an exciting new chapter of his life called “Not Living with Marsha Dale.”

This leaves Marsha Dale with nobody to bother.

We would like to correct that.

The fact that I once caught her chewing on an empty Bud Light can.
