Meet Cletus, a houndy boy who apparently did not get the memo that he wasn't supposed to make it.
Cletus came to us after being shot in the jaw. His injuries were devastating. He couldn't eat on his own and had to be tube fed while his body tried to heal. There were plenty of moments when we weren't sure what his future would look like or if he'd get one at all.
Cletus had other plans.
Today, he's healing, thriving and getting to do the extremely important work of being a hound: wandering around, sniffing absolutely everything and looking scrumptiously cute.
He's sweet in that wonderfully hound-y way: he's gentle, easygoing and just a little aloof because, respectfully, there are smells to investigate. He lives happily with other dogs and cats, and after everything he's been through, he's finally getting to just be a dog.
Cletus survived something horrific. Now we want the rest of his story to be incredibly boring: a home, a soft place to sleep and approximately 47,000 interesting things to sniff.
Our boy fought hard to get here. Now he just needs someone to give him forever.
