MEET MAVERICK — BIG, HANDSOME & FULL OF HOUND!

Maverick is the kind of dog who walks into a room and gets noticed. At 3 years old and about 60 pounds, he’s a gorgeous hound with a shiny coat, those incredible ears, and a big personality to match.

And now that he’s had some time in foster, we’ve gotten to know the real Maverick — and he’s a pretty entertaining guy.

Fantastic in the car. Crated or loose, Maverick is an excellent passenger and is ready to go wherever you’re headed.

He’s learned to walk beautifully on leash. With consistent walks three times a day, he’s made amazing progress and now walks really nicely. Get him back to the yard, though, and he’s ready to RUN and let loose!

He LOVES meeting people. Maverick went to work with his foster and did wonderfully. He also attended Pupstock, where he was understandably VERY excited about everything going on. Once he had a chance to settle in and watch all the sights, he relaxed and did great.

Cats? Surprisingly unimpressed. He has shown nice manners around them and stayed cool and collected.

Dogs? Yes — but Maverick can be A LOT. He’s friendly, but he currently has very little concept of an “off button” with other dogs. He gets overly excited and can be relentless, so he’ll need an appropriate dog match and humans willing to help him learn when playtime is over. He may also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as your one and only.

And yes... he found his hound voice! He may have been quiet when we first met him, but Maverick will absolutely let you know when he has something to say.

Meal time has also become a favorite, and apparently stealing laundry is a perfectly acceptable hobby in Maverick’s mind.

One thing we wouldn’t recommend? Giving this boy your favorite blankets or towels in his crate. Maverick believes fabric is for redecorating... into approximately 4,000 pieces.

Maverick is neutered, handsome as can be, social, goofy, energetic and ready for someone who appreciates everything that comes with a big young hound.
