Gideon - Hound and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Fredericksburg, Virginia

Gideon
Meet Gideon, a sweet little lovebug who believes life is better when he's close to his favorite people! This playful boy loves cuddles, making friends with other dogs, and being part of whatever you're doing. He's a good listener, too! When he's not busy playing with his friends, he's perfectly happy entertaining himself with a favorite toy on his dog bed.

Gideon is still working on his housebreaking, but he's learning along the way. He also enjoys snuggling up for a cozy nap and would love a family that has plenty of time to give him attention, affection, and guidance as he grows. If you're looking for a cuddly companion who wants to be your little shadow, Gideon could be your guy!

Adoption fees are $275 for an adult dog, $375 for puppies, and $150 for a senior dog. Cats are $165 for kittens, $150 for adults, and $85 for a second cat. Adoption fees can be made via cash or credit/debit card.

If you are looking for an adult dog, please remember to bring a martingale collar and non-retractable leash with you the day of the adoption, or be prepared to pick one up at Petsmart at an adoption event! If your preference is a feline, please bring a carrier, or cardboard carriers are available at events for $10.

We have adoption events every Saturday and Sunday at one or more of our area Petsmarts, and are often out and about in the community as well.
Events are posted on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/squishyfacecrewva.

Animals that do not have an individual meet and greet set up will be at these open adoption events; you do not have to have an application on file to attend. If there is a particular pet you are interested in meeting, please submit an application in advance at www.sfcva.org. We accept applications until 8pm every Thursday for individual meet and greets.

We try to respond to all applications within 48 hours, but please be patient - we are 99% VOLUNTEER POWERED, and most of our hardworking volunteers have full time jobs outside of rescue as well.

The hound dog breed is a diverse group known for their incredible hunting abilities and keen sense of smell. These dogs are esteemed for their athleticism, endurance, and loyalty, making them excellent companions for active individuals and families alike. With a rich history of assisting hunters in tracking and trailing game, hounds possess a strong prey drive and a distinctive bay when on the hunt. Hounds come in various sizes and coat types, each with its unique characteristics, but they all share a remarkable intelligence and a friendly disposition.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
