Auggie - Hound and Labrador Retriever Dog for Adoption in Franklin, Virginia

This young hound mix is approximately 1 to 2 years old and weighs 57 pounds. He’s super sweet, and seems to get along well with other dogs. Unfortunately, the shelter has no way to cat test him.


Auggie is sitting in a tiny rural shelter with just 7 kennels, where dogs like Auggie can easily be overlooked simply because fewer people see them.
He doesn’t have a big audience. He doesn’t have a rescue behind him. He doesn’t have thousands of people sharing his face.
He just has us. And maybe you.
Auggie is an adorable young hound mix who is smart, affectionate, and appears to do well with other dogs. We haven’t been able to cat test him, but we believe he has all the makings of a wonderful family dog.
Energy level: Medium
He gets excited and shows some happy puppy energy when he’s out of his run, but that’s likely because he’s been cooped up. He’s not bouncing off the walls or overly hyper—he’s simply happy to be out, explore, and get attention.

He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He did test positive for heartworms but there are so many new treatment options so please don't let that deter you from adopting this sweet boy!
