Meet Tiki a little island pup looking for his forever home in North Carolina!
Tikis journey to NC began on the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Croix, home to the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center. While the island is known for its stunning beaches, it also faces a heartbreaking challenge: severe pet overpopulation. With fewer residents than the town of Apex, there simply arent enough homes for all of the unwanted dogs and puppies born there each year.
Tiki was one of three puppies in a litter given a second chance through a rescue transport program that brings deserving island dogs to the mainland, where they have a better opportunity to find loving families.
And what a wonderful little traveler he was! Tiki flew all the way to North Carolina in the cabin with his foster mom, charming everyone he met along the way and soaking up attention from fellow passengers.
Since arriving, Tiki has embraced every new experience with curiosity and joy. He is playful, affectionate, and always ready for an adventure. He enjoys car rides, tagging along to pet-friendly restaurants, and spending time with his foster family. Hes still learning the basics of puppy life, including house training and leash walking, but hes a smart boy who improves every day and is eager to learn.
Like many rescue pups, Tiki can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once he feels comfortable, his sweet personality shines through. He has also met children and has done very well with them.
His favorite things? Toys, toys, and more toys! He loves playing tug-of-war, chasing balls, and finding new ways to entertain himself and his people.
Tiki has already traveled more than 1,500 miles in search of a family to call his own. Now all he needs is someone willing to open their heart and home to a sweet puppy who has overcome so much at such a young age.
Could that family be yours?
