Meet Jack!

Jack is a handsome 2-year-old, 45-pound Mountain Cur mix who was adopted from us as a puppy and has unfortunately found himself back at the shelter looking for his forever family.

Jack has been very loved and has so much going for him! He has had professional training, is completely house trained( may need a little training in a new home) , and knows several commands including sit, down, come, heel, kennel, and place. He is incredibly smart, food motivated, and loves learning—especially when treats are involved! He'll happily work for the usual dog treats, but he's also a big fan of watermelon, cantaloupe, bananas, green beans, and apparently even mashed potatoes.

Jack is super dog friendly, loves playing with other dogs, and absolutely LOVES kids. He is an active, playful boy who enjoys running, exploring, playing with squeaky toys, working on puzzle feeders, and carrying around his favorite chew toys. His previous family even called his zoomies around the yard “barrel racing.”

But underneath all that playful energy is one seriously affectionate boy. Jack loves snuggling, having his velvety ears rubbed, belly rubs, butt scratches, and curling up beside his people. At the end of a long day, he loves nothing more than getting cozy under a blanket—sometimes completely covered from head to toe!

Jack also has some pretty adorable quirks. He recognizes words like “outside,” “food,” and “cookie,” will roll over when asked if he wants a belly rub, and is known for his BIG dramatic sighs. His previous family joked that he “sighs a lot for a dog who doesn't watch the news.” When someone is eating, Jack will quietly rest his head on their leg and give them his very best puppy-dog eyes in hopes of scoring the last bite.

He crates on command and waits for permission before coming out. When his people come home, his favorite greeting involves grabbing a toy, running around with it in his mouth, wagging his tail, and “wooing” with excitement. He truly loves being with his people and forms a strong bond with his family.

Jack can become anxious during thunderstorms, fireworks, and when left alone, so he will need a family willing to continue working with him and helping him feel secure. He has previously responded well to medication for his separation anxiety.

Because Jack has a strong prey drive and can get a little too excited chasing smaller animals, a home without cats or other small pets would be best.

Jack is smart, goofy, trained, affectionate, playful, and full of personality. More than anything, he is a dog who LOVES his people with his whole heart. He has already experienced having a family of his own, and we would love nothing more than to see him find the forever family who will love all of his silly little quirks just as much as we do.
