Maverick
8 months
8.5 pounds
Is crate trained
Needs work on house and leash training, needs socialization experiences
Maverick is a boy’s boy – he plays fast and hard, then crashes for a nap! He is a loving and affectionate pup and prefers to take those naps curled up next to you.
He is very smart. His absolute favorite game is “fetch” though he is still working on the “drop it” part of the game.
Maverick has only been with the rescue a very short time, so there is still more to learn about him, and we will update this write-up in the future. At this point we know that he knows what to do when taken out to go potty. So, with proper support, he should continue to develop this skill quickly.
He sleeps overnight in his crate without complaint.
Like a typical puppy, he is still a bit mouthy, and it shows when he plays “fetch” but, he is quickly learning that is not part of the game. With consistent positive instruction, he should easily outgrow this phase of puppyhood.
We are also working on a loud high-pitched bark he tends to use when he sees someone he doesn’t know. It too will take consistent, positive instruction to help Maverick overcome this fear response.
Maverick likes both men and women and would do good well in a house with another dog. He has not been exposed to cats, so we do not know how he will react.
Again, more information will be provided on Maverick as we get to know him better.
Maverick is being fostered in Nebraska.
