Have you ever wanted your very own polar bear to snuggle, shelter friends? Well, we are fresh out of polar bears at the moment, but we do have Whiskey! At over one hundred pounds of muscle and fluff, this boy approaches pet bear proportions.
Speaking of fluff, Whiskey's fluff is badly in need of grooming. We have been working him over with combs and brushes as much as he'll tolerate, which is actually quite a bit, thank goodness. He's looking much better, but he still has mats and tangles to be sorted out. A professional grooming would not be a bad idea to fully restore his coat.
Whiskey is a great all around dog and we'd certainly love to see an adopter shower him with love and spa treatments. A calm and confident dog, he is friendly and curious with all the people and dogs he meets. Even when one of the younger pups was maniacally jumping up onto his head, all he did was give a low snort-bark of correction. Another adult dog barked right in his face and he just turned away. With a more well-mannered puppy, he welcomed their playfulness and returned it with a sweet play bow. He calmly greeted our little pig, as well.
When we walked him indoors for his food test (which he passed perfectly, of course, totally unfazed by us touching him and moving his bowl while he nommed up the yummy stuff), he seemed a little puzzled by his nails clicking on the vinyl floor, but quickly realized it was fine and proceeded to comfortably and curiously explore the room. When dishing out the luscious bowl of wet food for his test, we learned that he is tall enough for his head to reach all the way up onto the counter to see what was making that good smell!
On leash, Whiskey is pleasant to walk and quite gentle, if largely untrained. He is strong, but ambles along nicely and doesn't yank on his handler. He knows sit and takes treats gently.
So, bear lovers, now's your chance to make your house bear fantasy come true. Adopt Whiskey, your very own gentle giant, and set yourself up for a winter snuggle fest!
Whiskey is neutered and can go home with you right away. He keeps his inner and outer kennels clean; though we can't make promises, he appears fully housetrained. We don't have information on his attitude toward cats at this time.
A meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.
